Personalized hardcover children's book by Libronauts

Their Photo. Their Portrait. Their Story.

Personalized Book
With Your Child's Photo.

Your child's photo becomes the foundation for a custom illustrated portrait. Then Libronauts writes an original story around who they actually are: their personality, their world, their specific self.

Heirloom hardcover. Starting at $69. Preview before printing.

How Your Child's Photo Becomes the Character

The photo isn't decorative. It's the starting point for an original illustrated portrait.

1

You Share a Clear Photo

Any recent smartphone photo where you can see your child's face. Natural light works best. No professional photography needed, most family photos are ideal.

2

A Portrait Is Illustrated From It

Libronauts creates a custom watercolor-style character illustration using your photo as the visual reference. Hair color, skin tone, eye color, and general features are all captured in the artwork.

3

The Portrait Appears Throughout the Book

The illustrated character, your child's likeness, is the hero on every page. Not a placeholder. Not a stock character. A portrait rendered in storybook art, placed inside an original story.

The Portrait Looks Like Them

Three children. Three photos. Each portrait built from one clear reference image.

The Photo Gives Us the Face.
You Give Us the Person.

A likeness is the starting point. The story is built from everything else.

Name and Age

The hero's name appears in the narrative, not as a label, but as a character. Age shapes the story's vocabulary, themes, and emotional register. A 4-year-old's adventure reads differently from a 9-year-old's.

Personality and Temperament

Is your child bold or careful? Do they lead or observe? Are they the one who asks every question, or the one who watches everything first? These qualities shape how the hero behaves, what they fear, and how they overcome it.

Interests and Passions

Dinosaurs, drawing, football, horses, cooking, space, whatever holds their attention becomes the world of the story. If they're obsessed with something, the adventure can unfold in that world.

Siblings, Pets, and Important People

A hero isn't alone. Siblings, pets, best friends, and grandparents can all appear in the story. The relationships that define your child's life can be reflected in the narrative.

Not a Name Swap.
A Portrait in a Story.

What separates a photo-based book from the alternatives.

Name-only personalized books

  • A generic illustrated character receives your child's name
  • The same story is used for every child
  • The hero looks nothing like your child
  • Personalization is surface-level: the name, not the person

Libronauts, photo-based

  • Custom illustrated portrait built from your child's actual photo
  • Original story written from scratch for this specific child
  • The hero looks like your child: their hair, eyes, skin tone
  • Personality, interests, and world shape the entire narrative

Also central to every Libronauts book: how your child's personality shapes the story.

Not a template. Not a name swap. An original story built around who your child actually is.

Questions About the Photo

What parents ask most before sharing their child's photo.

Do you use my child's actual photo in the book?
Not directly, but it's the foundation for everything. Your photo is the visual reference our system uses to create a custom watercolor-style character illustration. The result is a storybook portrait that captures your child's hair, skin tone, and features. Your actual photo never appears inside the printed book; what appears is an original illustration made specifically to look like them.
What kind of photo works best?
A clear, well-lit photo where you can see your child's face is all you need. Most recent smartphone photos work perfectly. A natural expression works better than a highly posed one, and natural light tends to produce better likeness results than harsh flash. If there are multiple people in the photo, note which child the book is for. You do not need a professional photograph.
Can siblings or pets appear in the story?
Yes. When you share details about your child, you can include siblings, pets, and other important people. They can appear as named characters in the story. Supporting characters are described in the narrative and illustrated in the book's scenes. The more specific you are about who matters in your child's world, the more the story will feel like it belongs to them.
What age range is this best for?
Libronauts books are created for children ages 2 through 10. The story complexity, vocabulary, and themes are calibrated to the age you provide. A book for a 3-year-old reads differently from one for an 8-year-old, both feel matched to their reader. Many families commission a new book at milestone ages to capture how their child is at a particular moment.
What if the illustrated portrait does not look like my child?
You will see the character portrait before the book is printed. The preview includes the illustrated portrait, book cover, and a sample spread. If the likeness isn't right, hair color off, features not quite there, you can request adjustments before we finalize anything. We only print when you're satisfied with how the illustration looks.
Can I preview the character illustration before the book is printed?
Yes, and this is an important part of how Libronauts works. Before any printing happens, you receive a preview that includes the character portrait, book cover, and a sample interior spread. You can request changes to any element, the illustration, the story, the details, before we print. Nothing ships until you approve it.
